Rest Stops in the Wilderness

Jordyn (my 7-year old) and I had been riding in some intense late spring heat here in New Jersey and felt the need to stop for a moment.

The energy, breeze, and scenic views were welcomed, but could these two biker girls just take a short breather?

So we stopped.

As Jordyn ran off to play and climb the nearby trees, I pondered a few questions…

•Why hadn’t I previously discovered this particular trail in all of the 3.5 years of living in the area?

•How could my newfound discovery be instrumental in establishing new routines?

•What kind of provision is God offering me RIGHT NOW?

Like many women, I’ve felt the brunt of an awkward recovery in a Pandemic impacted world.

This post is not a “venting” session, but I must confess that things have not always been easy.

#COVID-19 was a wilderness experience for sure…

So you might imagine the sigh of relief I released as I entered the oasis of a beautiful and serene bike trail located right in my own neighborhood.

I’m particular about the areas I walk or bike on (for safety purposes), but a sense of calm that I can’t explain, took me over completely. I’m literally in awe of God…

I realize this experience is a gift to not be taken lightly.

Although I hadn’t discovered this beautiful experience in prior years or months, God absolutely knew what He was doing when He wrote this part of my life story.

He knew that this would play an integral part of the provision I needed right now, today. #TheLittleThings #ThankYouJesus

There are many Biblical figures in the Word of God who experienced their own #RestSpots in the “wilderness.”

For example:

•Hagar, a maid servant, found comfort in the wilderness (Genesis 16)

•David found safety in the wilderness (1 Samuel 23:14-29)

•Even Jesus found himself being ministered to by angels in the wilderness (Matthew 4:11)

Oh yes, the Lord is in the details… He’s making provision even when we feel like we might faint… #ImGrateful

Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
